About Us

At The Court House, Richard and Dan have created a welcoming country dining pub known for fresh, honest food, friendly faces, and a relaxed, cosy atmosphere. Whether you’re joining us for a leisurely meal, celebrating a special occasion, or staying overnight in one of our charming rooms, you’ll always be greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality.

Proudly Part of the Local Story

The Court House is a beautifully preserved 17th-century building with a real story to tell. Once the local courthouse (complete with gallows standing just across the road!), it played a central role in village life for generations and even witnessed the area’s famous 17th-century witch trial proceedings.

Converted into an inn in 1822, the building still carries its original charm, with wooden beams, cosy corners, and a unique atmosphere that only true history can create. Today, The Court House is a place to unwind, dine well, and soak up the heritage of this beautiful Essex village.

We’re proud to be part of Great Bromley’s rich history and to continue its tradition of bringing people together. Every dish served in our kitchen is freshly prepared on site using quality ingredients from trusted local suppliers. From comforting classics to seasonal specials, our menu offers something for everyone, always cooked with care and plenty of flavour.

It’s this blend of history, comfort, fresh cooking, and personal service that makes The Court House a much-loved destination for locals and visitors alike.
